f)The response delay time shall be 50 microseconds, and the tolerance
shall be not more than 1 microsecond. However, the same shall not apply to DME which constitutes a part of an ILS.
g)DME shall be capable of transmitting 2,700 response signal pulse pairs per second, and the permissible limit of tolerance shall be 90 pulse pairs per second.
h)The sum of the number of pulse pairs of the transponder signal and the number of random pulse pairs shall be between 700 and 2,790 per second.
i)The transponder signal shall not be transmitted when the identification signal is being transmitted.
j)The random pulse pairs shall not be transmitted when the transponder signal or identification signal is being transmitted.
k)The identification signal shall consist of a single pulse pair or paired pulse with a pulse spacing of 90 to 110 microseconds.
l)The number of emissions of the identification signal pulse pairs shall be as follows:
I. For an identification signal consisting of a single pulse pair: 1,350 pulse pairs (permissible limit of tolerance: 10).
II. For an identification signal consisting of a paired pulse: 2,700 (permissible limit of tolerance: 20).
m)The spacing of the constituent pulses of the identification signal referred to in 1)I. above and of that referred to in 1)II. above shall be as equal as possible.
n)The constitution, rate of transmission and the number of transmissions shall conform to the requirements prescribed under subparagraph 7 y) of this paragraph.
o)The time required for the transmission of the identification signal shall conform to the requirements prescribed under subparagraph 7 a´) of this paragraph.
p)The identification signal of a DME which is used in conjunction with VOR or ILS, shall be transmitted within a time segment the duration of which shall be not more than one-fourth part of any 30-second interval; and the identification signal of a VOR or ILS which is used in conjunction with said DME shall be transmitted when the DME signal is not being transmitted.
q)The receiving equipment shall meet the requirements prescribed under subparagraph 7 d´) to 1´) of this Article.
r)The transpondcr antenna system shall emit and receive vertically polarized electromagnetic waves.
s)THE transponder antenna system of a DME which is used in conjunction with a VOR shall be located on the vertical axis of the VOR antenna.
